Things To Do......... Places To See........ Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, etc
Margarette Falls Cherokee National Forest Located in Greene County this is a moderate to strenuous short day hike, depending on your fitness level. Nice and shady plus dog friendly. Plan on 2-3 hours.
Sill Branch Falls Cherokee National Forest Located in Unicoi County (near Erwin), you can start at the first parking lot where Sally Hole is (swimming for the kids) then walk 1.8 miles to the trail head, or you can park at the trail head and make the short yet strenuous half mile hike to the falls.
Laurel River Trail Pisgah National Found on Hwy 25 not far from Marshall and Burnsville NC. This is a seven mile hike round trip. It is rated easy, but still wear good walking shoes, there are plenty of rocks and roots to trip over. This is my favourite walk. You have a view of the river almost the entire time. The river changes and you never run out of photographic opportunities. Most of the time, we just walk for a while then turn around. The very end is rather anti-climatic , not as beautiful as the journey.

Nolichucky River: A long river that snakes its way from North Carolina, through our county and finishes at the French Broad River. Exciting areas of rapids and rough water, long stretches of smooth serene water, this is a beautiful and adventurous way to spend a few hours or all day.
